Faithful prayer warriors, Four months ago seven lost people in a tiny NE Michigan town had no idea how different their life would be when God got a hold of them! Tonight we had a "5th Sunday Sing". One hundred and thirty people crowded into Grayling Baptist church to witness 7 baptisms and praise God for all He is doing in Pines Association. He began working in a group of people that were living hard and far from HIM. The first to come to the small fellowship in Rose City and find Father was Terry, who describes his life like this, "l have been living in the bowels of society. I now know truth, honesty and Love, the old person is dead." This former biker has been named "Moses" by his pastor, Steve Harmon. Terry's face just beams with an inner joy and peace only God can give! His salvation was the beginning of an outpouring of new converts. Next came Joe who Terry saw hitchhiking. He said he never picks up hitchhikers, but it was as if God pushed on the brake and stopped the car. They began talking and realized they knew each other from 10 years ago. Joe came to church and was saved. People in the town who knew Terry said it was just a phase and soon the old Terry would emerge. Father has a way of using people right where they are....next came Carl who started coming to the church and when the pastor announced the upcoming baptisms, he raised his hand and said, "Make that another one'! Amy had been running from God for years and was a friend of Terry's sister...she came and found Jesus! Cindy who formerly was a biker with Terry and Larry was the next to come to church and find Father. Larry is the most recent believer. He had reached the end of his rope, the hard life was swallowing him up and he tells of sitting in a chair with a gun in his hand, ready to end it all. He looked up and he saw the cross on the wall his wife Millie had placed there ... he dropped the gun and cried out to God to save him. That was on January 18. She has been a Christian for some time and just prayed for Larry (Big Scruff) for years., but had never been baptized, so tonite they were baptized together. Before she went under she said, " I know there is a God, cause my husband's here tonite!" Big Scruff (Larry) has been inviting more people these past 2 months and to come and meet Little Scruff (his nickname for the pastor)! God is moving in a mighty way among a sometimes neglected and hungry group of people. Please lift these little ones up daily for some of them have things from their former life to deal with and the enemy will be prowling around trying to drag them down. Friday nights, the time when they usually would party, do drugs, alcohol, etc. now finds them at the church from 6:30 - 11 p.m. singing praises to God in their newly formed choir. When Big Scruff heard about the "Annie Armstrong" offering, he told the pastor, "I have a big old whiskey bottle filled with change, I want to give it to that offering, it is a part of my old life, but I can't roll the change, my hands don't work so good anymore" Wednesday night after prayer meeting found the members of the church rolling a total of $76 in change to Aunt Annie. As their voices lifted in song tonite we truly felt the presence of God in the church, angels must have been rejoicing with us. It felt as if the roof was raised and love overflowed to all in attendance. As the whole body hugged and greeted them into the fellowship of believers Amy said, "I just want to jump up and down, I can't stand still". Thank you for praying for these new little ones and all our churches in Pines Association. We are expecting great things to happen up here in NE Michigan! God is good, all the time! We have only been home from the otherside of the world for 3 months and are finding that the fields in America are also white unto harvest...let's all get to work while it is still light. Serving Him Together, Love, Dianne and Donn
